William is now one. As his Mother I have so many different emotions. I am so proud of the happy, healthy, smart, energetic, curious little boy he has become however wonder where did the time go... is my baby really now a toddler?
In August William started taking a couple steps at a time, 2 days before his 1st birthday he linked those steps and now is considered a walker (when he wants to). It is so amazing watching him grow.
His favorite word is "up". Up was first taught to mean he was done eating at his highchair however now William uses it whenever he wants to be picked up (often), or just whenever he is over the situation and wants a change (he loves saying it on car rides when we are not near the destination!). A few of his other favorite words are uh-oh, dah (dog?), dada and mama (although he uses Mama sparingly at this point). Lately he has been picking up any object and putting it to his ear and saying "eh" which I believe is hello. He also knows that the quack is his toy stuff duck. He continues to love finger foods and is trying to use the spoon which is just such a mess!
He seems to understand a lot that is going on - it is great being able to somewhat communicate with our little guy. One very fun thing we have been doing a little of is sign language so William now knows how to tell us he is hungry or thristy. William has been giving out a good amount of hugs lately - mostly to other Moms, stuffed animals and his best buddy Ollie (our share care partner). He also has learned to give kisses and he can be very good at smothering me with them (accompanied by the sound mmmm). Watching his positive emotions is precious.
We had our 1 year check up and weighed in at 25 lbs 4 oz (80th percentile) and 31inches (85th percentile).
